Fiji is writing legislation to lift fishers’ conditions. ILO is working with Government toward C188. Solomon Islands has already ratified. Crew on Fiji-flagged, Taiwanese and other vessels out of Fiji ports remain in the constituency.
Awareness and founding-committee business are in English and iTaukei only.
- Where fishers organise. Fiji Maritime Union (FMU): longline fishers join as a Fishers Branch within the FMU mandate. Being established.
- Branch GS. PIoWR, through Banati Sefeti, is to be General Secretary of the FMU Fishers Branch, with a GS Assistant to be appointed.
- Neighbour. TCGWU Fishers Office exists. Meet it. Do not copy its mark.
- Rooms. FLAG, MEPIR, FFIA, ILO, CI.
- Support. Conservation International — Fiji Programme is working with PIoWR in the coming weeks to help establish the Fishers Branch.
- Home default. Named deputy covers family-care absences.

Offer letter, project proposal V3.6, and draft founding papers prepared by PIoWR. With fishers joining the FMU as a Fishers Branch, the papers are being aligned with the FMU mandate. Branch documents are FMU instruments, not instruments of PIoWR.
